Furlough Days and other Important Dates
Furlough day are in BLUE.
Holidays are in RED.
Important school-related dates are in GREEN.
- The six week Summer Session will begin
on Monday, July 12, 2010 and end on Friday, August 20, 2010.
- In North America, August 12th is the First of Ramadan.
- Fall Semester 2010-2011 will
begin with the Labor Day Holiday
on Monday, September 6. The rest of that week -- September
7 and 9 are unassigned,
un-paid days September
8 and
10 will be teacher
furlough days. Classes
will begin on Monday, September 13, 2010.
- Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year 5771)
begins at sunset on Wednesday, September 8th. Shana
tova! Yom Kippur (Day of
Atonement) begins at sunset on Friday, September 17th.
- Halloween is Sunday, October 31, 2010.
- Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 3am daylight savings time ends--FALL
BACK!
- Thursday, November 11, 2010 is
Veteran's Day- School is closed.
- November 22, 23, and 24 are teacher
furlough days. Thursday
and Friday, Nov. 25 & 26 are holidays School is closed all week! --
Happy Thanksgiving!
- Hanukah begins at sunset on Wednesday,
December 1, 2010 and lasts for 8 days and 8 nights.
- Winter recess begins on Monday,
December 20, 2010 and goes through Friday, January 7, 2011.
School is closed. January 4-7,
2011 are unassigned, un-paid days.
- Christmas
Eve is Friday, December 24th
and Merry
Christmas on Saturday, December 25, 2010 and Happy
New Year on Saturday, January 1, 2011
(1/1/11).
- Monday, January 17, 2011 is Martin
Luther King Jr. Day- School is closed.
- Monday, February 14th is Valentine's Day.
And school is closed on Monday,
February 21, 2011 for President's Day.
- Thursday, March 17th is
St. Patrick's Day!
- Friday,
April 1, 2011 is an unassigned, un-paid day. (Cesar Chavez Day
observed)
- Spring recess begins April 18, 2011
and ends April 22, 2011 -- school is closed.
- Passover begins at sunset
on Monday, April 18th and Easter is on Sunday, April 24th.
- Mermorial Day is observed on Monday,
May 30, 2011 - school is closed.
- June
25, 2011 is the last day of instruction for the school year.
- June
27 & 28, 2011 are teacher furlough days.

the Maxine Waters Employment Prepatation Center. Areas of Focus: Excellence in
Education- High Expectations, Quality of Instruction and Programs.
